A while back, Tracee Ellis Ross shared with the world her beauty secret for dry and cracked hands. Her millions of followers were shocked to find out that it was a drugstore-accessible moisturizer called Bag Balm, priced below $20. “It’s totally worth it, and it’s actually like a little gentle loving version of self-care to replenish the moisture in your hands,” says the actress. Since 1899, this cult-favorite balm has been used to nourish and treat skin, help soothe skin irritations, and more. As of recently, I’ve discovered just how many ways this product can be used. Whether using it as a step in my body care routine or even with makeup, this multi-use product has become a summer essential and may have permanently earned a spot on my vanity.

This summer, I've been really trying to prioritize my body care. Since the beginning of June, I've spent hundreds on new moisturizing creams, exfoliators, and oils in hopes of finding a body routine that gives me glowing and super soft skin. I purchased Bag Balm a while back after I saw Tracee Ellis Ross rave about it, but for some strange reason had never gotten around to using it. I saw it in my body care drawer and decided it was finally time to give it a try. I applied it while my skin was damp after a shower and was amazed at how smooth my skin felt, almost instantly. I rubbed it onto my hands and feet and the same thing, baby-smooth skin! Last week, I ran out of my beloved Glow Recipe Dew Drops and needed something that could give me that dewy healthy glow that I love so much. I saw the Bag Balm on my dresser and thought that it could possibly do the same thing. The consistency of this product is a thick salve that gives this really beautiful shine to the skin. I applied it on the high points of my face where I would typically put highlighter and wow... my skin was glowing! I had unlocked a new makeup hack.
My skin can get really dry and sometimes a cream alone isn't enough. It has really helped me to revamp my dry skin and give me a radiant glow for the summer. Also, I sometimes put it on my feet and then put on a pair of socks when they are feeling rough, in the morning my feet are super soft and smooth. It has definitely become a must-have for me because I've been able to manipulate it for different uses in my beauty routine. The longer I have this balm, the more ways I find to utilize it. You can pick this up at Walgreens or Amazon for under $20! If you have dry skin or simply want to look like a glazed donut, I urge you to give this a try.
